During class today we read a primary source oral history from E.B. Sledge about World War II in the Pacific. Students responded to this powerful document, demonstrating their understanding of how war changes people.

During class today we RAM-QC’d FDR’s four freedoms speech. This was a pivotal speech in American history.

During class today we were continuing our conversation about the New Deal. Students were engaged in a debate over what the role of government should be and if they thought these programs would really be effective.

During class today we spent time talking about the economic policies of Herbert Hoover. There were many comparisons to be made with regards to how he dealth with the beginning of the great depression and what is happening in society today.

During class today we spent time finishing our stock market simulation and discussing the results. Afterward that, we spent time reviewing for Thursday’s quiz… students were creating their own quiz questions.

During class today we spent some time talking about the economy of the 1920s. For the most part, we focused on similarities to the dire economic situation our country faces today. It was a good discussion.

During class today we continued our conversation of the 1920s by spending time looking at some artwork and talking about Jazz. We also were introduced to a paper topic which we will be working on. Students will be asked to write about how the 1920s were times of social change.

Homework: Braistorm paper ideas, fill out outline sheet.

During class today we continued our conversation on social changes in the 1920s. We finished talking about women and prohibition, and now we’re moving into prohibition.

During class today we spent time continuing our conversation about the 1920s. We talked about immigration as well as shifting social values with regards to women.
